Lucky Girl

In 1910 the recently built first rule IRC 8 metre yacht was raffled off and the winner was a young girl. Hence the yacht’s name. In 1912 this yacht won Finland’s first sailing medal a bronze in the Olymics. After a long and varied sailing career the yacht was last sailed by Duncan Walker of Fairlie Restorations in Stockholm in July 1996 as a trial before purchase. The yacht has laid at Port Hamble since then. The new Owner, a European entrepreneur will restore the yacht at Fairlie in time for the Fife Regatta in June 2008.
