Viking Yacht Launched
In September Paul travelled to Iceland for the launch of the Viking Yacht (see Design Consultancy page). After assembling the rig the yacht was pushed from the shed and launched at dusk down the slipway into the North Atlantic where she was escorted to the town harbour by a flotilla of local fishing boats.
Unfortunately the weather then came in again and the rig was not stepped for a couple of weeks, however finally in October her one square sail was set and she sailed for the first time. By all accounts the sailing was a very successful operation. More trials are scheduled for Spring ’09 before an official launch and voyage South to the rest of Europe.
